Can't wait, I live 300 yards from the sea on the west coast of Ireland. Looking forward to seeing the car park on the prom flooded by massive waves. Great fun. There's always someone's Merc in there.

Is it just me or has the weather been cack for flying this year? This is my first year of powered but even in all the years I've been gliding I can't remember a year like this.

I think there is less distinction between seasonal weather these days. Meaning it is !!!! all year round now instead of just during certain periods!
Last year wasn't any better than this one as far as I can tell.

The winds at 'normally murky' EGNM had the Ryanair and Flybe boys and girls working pretty hard by the looks of it................................

The last good flying summer was 2003.

However I have found every summer since to be similarly OK for flying to places.
2011 has been cooler than 2010 which was cooler than 2009 and I know that directly from the electricity bill on a pool heat pump we have. But cooler temps do not translate into worse flying weather, especially if you are a plain PPL with no instrument capability in which case a lot of hot days are too hazy to navigate using the traditional methods.
Hot hazy days also drag out PPL training in the most frustrating ways because many/most instructors will not let you out solo in sub-5k viz, which is infuriating when you then jump into a plane with somebody else and have a great flight.

Just a bit of character forming weather...
