LOOP magazine - WIHIH

Received a nice free surprise copy of LOOP in the mail today, thought they'd gone bust - according to the LAA mag they have. Never got round to paying for a subscription, despite phone calls to urge me to do so, so a bit confused as to why/how. Anybody know the full story?

I heard (so, 'allegedly' and all that) that they shut the doors when in debt to some £700k - and then pronptly set up again the next day. Nice (unless you were owed money...).

I stand to be corrected....

I got a phonecall from Loop today. Apparently they're changing to a glossy magazine format, and will be charging (I think) £2:40/month to cover some of the costs. Can't remember how often it comes out though - is it weekly or monthly?

The well hidden cover price on the copy that came through my door was £3.40

I used to get it,free, from around 2006 after registering on their website.

Late in 2010, they announced that after the new year, there would be a subscription-charge.

the magazine stopped coming,- However, I still get emails regarding the latest reviews, etc. on their website.
I had no inkling they had financial problems and assumed that advertising revenue was enough to support an enterprise which was not driven by publisher's greed.

ps. edited to add, it's been a glossy for absolutely yonks.*

Well presented mag when it was free (i let it go when they wanted subscription), but imo they did indulge in a bit of "hero worship" towards their contributors, eg "so and so's got xxx thousand hours on xxx types, including combat, what a sky god" kind of thing.....pass me the bucket.

I was intrigued also, so I googled it and got a link to another forum where someone was asking ‘WTF is WIHIH?’

‘What in heck is happening’ apparently.

I was dying to ask that too - but didn't want to loose my street cred. Innit

Had a quick look at the 'new' Loop mag last week. It's still not worth paying for and I guess another 700k loss will be coming up very soon....

Kind of agree. Saw a copy lying around at the weekend and had a read.

To be fair, I actually quite liked it - but certainly not enough to pay for it in preference to Flyer or Pilot.
