I know it's down south, but Fairoaks available with no services (ie no FIS, Fire service or fuel) on 1st and normal sunday opening (9 - 6) on 2nd. Indemnity forms must be filled in if you use Fairoaks on the 1st.

I'd be surprised if Perth (EGPT) is shut ? Was planning on flying out of there on the 1st myself if the weather is nice though I have an out of hours indemnity anyway... (just checked, Perth open but no fuel)
Aberdeen will be open but its an expensive and joyless experience....

Thanks folks.
Unfortunately Fairoaks just too far for these short days,
Xrayalpha, interesting suggestion, we have a heavy AC with spats so I'm not sure.
Perth would just be a circuit
.
I might check with inversneckie.
Any other Ideas?

If your thinking of Scotland and want tarmack you dont really have much to choose from! Oban has the stunning scenery but no idea of its operating status for the 1st?, other than that you've only really got Dundee, Cumbernauld and Glenrothes in addition to the others already mentioned assuming you want to stay away from EDI, GLA and PIK....

Strictly no apostrophes..."eats shoots and leaves" etc..
But on a more serious note, beware the low sun. Newspapers at this time of year (although admittedly more strarved of stories) invariably find tales of private pilots who have come to grief on pylon cables and other such obstacles while approaching both new and familiar fields.
Happy - and safe - flying!!! (and yes, before anyone comments, two exclamation marks too many!)

Was this a blatant disregard of the conventions of English grammar? Mmmm, perhaps but Fowler’s isn’t the only show in town 4 me. On a conventional QWERTY keyboard the letter “s” is right next door to the letter “d”. Is this just a coincidence?
Could it b that what we are seeing here is the bad influence of miss keying? These 2 letters are so close and easy to reach that the unwary finger could be forgiven for being seduced into sliding from one to the other to key both.
An alternative to the ever popular pilot error theory is that this was a failure in the design of the input device. In some people’s eyes the conventional PC keyboard is just a typographical error waiting to happenm.
A very happy new year to all ppruners
