WW1 (replica?) biplane over Wrexham last Sunday
Hi All,
New kid putting his head over the parapet after long-time lurking..!
Not sure whether I should post my question in Private Flying or Vintage etc.
I was model flying near Wrexham last Sunday morning when a WW1 SE5 -type biplane flew over our site. About mid-day, conditions perfect.
Beautiful sight, but the sound was not quite authentic...
Who/what was it?
One of the GWDT team? Didn't look quite like their SE5 replica.
Anyone shed any light? Please?

Hard to say without a registration, or having been there (which I wasn't), but sounds most likely either an SE5a replica - there are a few about, or an MBA Tiger Cub (Photos: MBA Tiger Cub 440 Aircraft Pictures | Airliners.net) of which there are also still a few flying.

The replica mentioned by Contrail seems the most likely; any more info available?
It was quite unlike the Tiger Cub shown in the link from Genghis.
I couldn't get the reg since I was busy flying my model at the time..
But the colour scheme was typical WW1 camo with light undersides.
Many thanks, chaps!

Brilliant!
G-CCXG it almost certainly is. Saw the V ident letter beneath one wing as it flew over, probably making for its home strip nearby...!
I should have thought of G-INFO myself, but forgot that one can interrogate it for aircraft type, not just reg.
Thanks again - mystery solved!!
