Did anyone see the Salvage Squad programme on Channel 4 tonight? (For those S4C viewers in Wales, It'll be shown in 3 years time!) It featured the restoration of an old Gyroplane in time for the Autumn Duxford airshow. Even on the Friday before the show, the assembled experts were flight testing the aircraft at Henstridge, obviously before permit issue time.. Did they really expect the test flight to go well, with no snags, have the permit issued that Friday afternoon, and find a current display pilot in time for the show??
I may be an old cynic, but were viewers being slightly hoodwinked by journalists again? Nice to see Ken Wallis still flying though..
And is it also true what they say about Gyros? "If you hang around long enough, you'll see it crash"
Here’s hoping tomorrows programme about the P51 Mustang is slightly better………
