Some figures for our (6-member) group flying a two seater taildragger on a PFA permit:
Share price £2000
Monthly sub £28 each
Hourly rate £9 per hour dry - buy your own avgas
These rates have enabled us to build up a sustantial kitty / engine fund.
Aircraft is hangared at a licenced airfield so we have on-site fuel.

OK, so having now been given all the options, where would people suggest I start looking for an aircraft?
The various UK magazines have relatively few aircraft for sale at the moment. Are there any dedicated trader magazines? I have seen lots of good publications in the States, all with literally hundreds of aircraft to choose from. Is there anything like that here?
Also, are there any good internet sites? Grateful again for your very helpful advice.

(1) PFA's website, there are quite a lot of adverts
(2) Popular Flying Magazine
(3) Flyer Magazine
(4) Notice boards at local flying clubs. (Note: clubs not schools for what you are after). I've no idea where you are, but locally to me, the notice boards at Popham and White Waltham are usually chocker with share or whole aeroplane adverts. School based airfields like Thruxton tend to be less useful in this respect.
(5) Second hand aeroplane capital of the UK is the struts tent at the PFA rally in July.

At Wellshpool there is a C172 for 24k, I do not have more details. If you want dealers I can recommend Aradian Aviation (Steve Rogers). Nice and honest
However, if you wait for a year or so, I believe that prices will come down due to the economy.
Websites are: aerotrading.com, ASO.com and maybe Avstop.com Most of the a/c are in the USA but it will give you some ideas.
If you are looking for a Comanche there are some for sell in the UK and Europe.
