Post WW1 Airfield tour

I read in Pilot magazine book review a couple of months ago of a newly released book that detailed a tour of World War One airfields in France.

I no longer have my copy so I would be indebted if anyone could tell me the name of the book or the author??

Can anyone recommend any other books (or tours)that would help me tour Northern France from an aviation viewpoint??

I have bought it. It's lying at home. It is called something Ypres, and is published by Leo Cooper's Pen & Sword outfit. Have not read it yet.

It would be a great excuse for a trip round airfields of Northern France. The only ones in the region I have been to are Arras Amiens and Merville, and I am not sure if any of them are original WW1 sites.

Re "Ypres" (Mike O'Connor), it got a bad review from "Cross and Cockade" magazine, which elicited a storm of protest in No.3 2001 from both from the author and other supporters who said it was wonderful! Apparently it contains some excellent recent aerial pix and its primary function is said to be to lead visitors around aviation sites in the Ypres area. It also contains maps and airfield diagrams.

Having said that, I've a feeling there was another book recently with the title "airfields of WW1" or similar. I'll keep looking.

Thanks Chaps

Found the titles on Amazon. I hope to spend some time planning such a trip once I have identified a few key sites - WW1 airfields that are not now supermarche carparks and Von Richtofen's airfields and crash site perhaps.

I would be keen to share this trip SkyYacht I will post my provisional plans once I get the research done - see what you make of it.

Well...spill the beans, what was the other book called (not "Ypres") since I can't find it anywhere?
