Talking Jersey (EGJJ)

Jersey ( the one in the channel islands for any Americans out there ) has lowered its landing fees to GA. All visiting aircraft now go to the new aero club that has just been built. £6- per tonn, cheap fuel,(vat free), a good hop on in to France in the summer. About time an airfield lowered landing fees, Will any others follow?

Nice one banana man....thats good news for us all! Some landings fees are bloody outrageous and quite how these are justified is beyond me.

In any event..hope to see you there one day.

Bonjour & Au revoir!

Excellent news, banana man. Jersey is a favourite pit stop of mine on the way south. I’ll be dropping in on the way to Africa this year.

Guernsey's cheap too, landings fees benefit from sponsorship (think there's conditions attached like international flights or fuel uplift or something). £6 for a small Cessna in August 2000.

Pity the rest of the service wasn't as good:
parked on the GA area about 100m as the crow flies from the terminal for customs clearance. Unfortunately you're not allowed to go direct across the apron. We had all our camping gear and had to walk round three sides of a square (about 300m) with all the gear, since no luggage trollies allowed (even though the route doesn't go across the apron). It took several trips, during which we had to leave some of the stuff half way because we couldn't manage, so luck it didn't get seized and blown up. Then of course one of us had to guard the things we had already taken through. And guess what, security wouldn't let us through the 2nd time because they'd had a shift change and the new staff didn't recognise us. Worst of all my passenger suffers from a serious heart condition and it made him ill.

Give me Alderney any day, but I'll give Jersey a try

Rob_L,

Suggest you give Jersey a look the next time. I’ve stopped over a few times and found everybody – from the courtesy bus driver to the met personnel – to be helpful in the extreme. Even when we had a problem with our aircraft and called out an eng from the local flying club, he refused to accept any money for his half-hour’s work!
