I was there last week. Fuel at 48p per litre. Lots of paperwork to fill in. Don't forget your passport. Very helpful Met section. Landing fee is about a tenner....

Don't forget to telephone special branch for clearance 24hr beforehand, and to file a flight plan (VFR or IFR). If you want to go really high to increase gliding range, you will need to go IFR (above FL40) or route SAM-MP (Cherbourg)- Jersey.

If you fly a single fly SAM-MP-CARTRET Light House-JSY. Call App. no need to call Radar. Very good ATC. ATIS is on the VOR frq.
I was there on Sunday and paid £24 landing fees for a single. The grass parking is uneven, taxi real slow. Fuel is 48p/l.
Nice place if the weather is nice, yet prone for sea fog. As it is a Class A airspace you will fly a SVFR (in & out).
Don't forget to file a flight plan, SAM-MP you cross FIR. Brest Info. asked me and others for it.

Best suggestion may include diverting the flight to Guernsey.

Fuel 41p per litre (Shell) and landing fee for single £6 (£12 for twin - reasonable mathematics, there) except Saturdays.

Alderney - even more laid back - well worth a visit.

Avgas is a few pence more, but you use less getting there.

Correction on the Guernsey info. Yesterday the Avgas was 48.5p/litre - still worth going tho' Jersey has a v nice weather woman who you can actually speak to!

Skywatcher,

I would be interested to read a little bit about how your trip went if you would be good enough to post it....? The reason being, I am thinking of doing a similar trip myself. But when you haven't flown out of the Mainland (with the exception of Anglesey!) it seems quite a daunting experience!

Regards

Realy not a problem. Just make sure that the 'D' area south to Southampton is not active or follow the Airway (approx. 240 from SAM).
Make sure that you have jackets or a raft. You can tell Jersey Radar that you are an inexperience pilot and they will look after you. They are very good.
