Post GA 'TCAS'

I've just seen this budget traffic alerting system in the AOPA magazine for light aircraft and wondered if anyone had come across it before:

Of course there is no excuse for not looking out the window, but anything to help avoid a collision is welcome, and at a cost of $800 it seems like a good deal !

Without the ability to tell the direction from which the traffic is coming

With the significant potential for blind-zones in places from which the Antenna is shielded

Without the ability to distinguish when 2000 foot distance means safely below you or inside 0.5 miles

This is probably one of the biggest wastes of money around - IMHO
