Flown past there many times but never landed. Sounds like a good excuse to visit!
Another excuse I found after a bit of research is the Chatham Dockyard which is just down the road. Catch the 101 bus (every 15 mins except Sundays when it is once an hour)

The airport was threatened with closure by the local council. Vociferous opposition to this came from many sides, but most of all, the public; ensuring its survival. Long may it continue!
