Miracle in Alsace

An aircraft from Germany landed in Haguenau LFSH soon Tuesday morning due to adverse weather.
One hour later, the pilot, age 61, sole occupant, decided to take off.
Due to very poor weather, he decided to return to the airfield and hit trees in a near-by forest.
Only a shoulder bruised...

Hmmm it's another good advert for the IMCR. I've been caught in Germany by unexpected bad weather and had to divert, but at least I had the skills to climb to safe sector altitude negotiate with helpful ATC a diversion to a suitable ILS and land.

Not strictly legal, but strictly safe!

Apart from Belgium and the UK there aren't many issues in keeping a 'foreign permit aircraft in European countries which are signatories to the 1980 ECAC agreement.

The aircraft does have to continue to be inspected by an LAA inspector - but that could be done by either returning to the UK or flying out your favourite inspector. The arrangements would be very similar to those of for instance certified D reg in the UK prior to EASA.

Of course it would be much better if the job preservation antics of the UK and Belgian authorities did not exist!
