Cool Loose Articles

Hello everyone...

Last year I was carrying out the permit inspection on my Pitts with a mate of mine when we found to our surprise a MagLite in the leading edge! Presumably it had been lost there (no doubt during a previous inspection!). Naturally I mentioned it to my other aviating friends and they often came back with other, more bizarre lose articles - namely,

-The half pack of biscuits which had been into space 5 times in the wing of a Shuttle!

-A set of lineys' steps in a Vulcan wing!

and - a vacuum cleaner left in an Airbus fuel tank!!

I just wondered if there were any more similarly shocking tales out there?

I enjoyed seeing all the stuff they pulled out of Gus Grissom's Liberty Bell capsule that was pulled off the bottom of the ocean a couple of years ago after lying there for over 30 years. The Grumman engineers that built it (and if it hadn't sunk would have inspected it on return) had hidden all kinds of souvenirs in there!
