EGNOS Reception

According to the EGNOS web site (http://egnos-user-support.essp-sas.eu/e ... SIS_status) PRN 120 (Inmarsat AOR-E) and PRN 124 (ESA ARTEMIS) are now broadcasting normally.

If you have a 430W or 530W can you tell me whether you are receiving the D indication, indicating they are receiving the differential correction signals from PRN 120 and PRN 124.

My unit is not.

You have to make sure that WAAS is switched on. Go to page 3 on the AUX page and under SBAS Selection make sure that WAAS is selected to ON. (page 178 of the Pilots Guide and Reference Manual or thereabouts - depending on the version number of the Manual)

Then go to the Satellite Staus page in the NAV pages on the unit.
There should be a “D” character inside the bars indicating differential corrections (e.g. WAAS or EGNOS ) are being used for that satellite. Also • "3D Differential Navigation" should appear in the top right hand STATUS window indicating the GPS receiver is in 3D navigation mode and differential corrections are being used. (Page 55 and 56 of the Pilots Guide)

By the way Garmin have issued a SERVICE ADVISORY NO.: 1029 Revision A about EGNOS and when it will be fully active.

Many thanks,

BD
