Smile strobe lighting..

Hi there
Do strobe lights need to have their wiring shielded to prevent radio interference? Do they need to have their power boxes placed as far away as possible from the radios.?

You can get remote units that put the power supply near the light. That way you don't have high power running lose near fuel tanks etc.

As a very young Boffin at RAE I once positioned a strobe directly in front of a FLIR head. That's not a very good idea either.

More seriously, there are some good words about how to fit and check strobes at http://www.bmaa.org/013_1.pdf

Another point is that strobes on wingtips can alter the spinning characteristics, so be careful where you stick them.
