West Sussex
Yet another potential problem for GA has arisen, this time in West Sussex. The County Council has released its proposed planning policy for public consultation. Whilst it is supportive of Goodwood and Shoreham, elsewhere it seeks to require that "...proposals for new or extended general aviation facilities should not be permitted."
In effect, this amounts to restrictions upon existing small sites and a proposed ban on any new flying sites in the County of West Sussex. A more equitable policy would be for any such proposals to be judged individually on the merits of the specific case.
It is possible to head off such a policy if enough people write to the council both in support of the proposed policy relating to Goodwood and Shoreham and opposing the proposed policy relating to GA facilities elsewhere.
Full details, taken from the latest GAAC newsletter, can be found at <a href="http://www.airfields.org.uk/alerts/west_sussex_0201013.htm" target="_blank">http://www.airfields.org.uk/alerts/west_sussex_0201013.htm</a>
