Thumbs down Talk about over-reaction!

...AND NOW A WORD FROM THE FAR SIDE
Paul Hudson, executive director of the Aviation Consumer Action Project
(ACAP), told the committee that GA's "one million private planes" should
be banned from a radius of 100 miles surrounding all major cities and
"likely terrorist targets." We kind of got stuck right there, given
that Hudson is off by a factor of five on the size of the GA fleet, and
we can't figure out what would qualify -- or not -- as a "likely
terrorist target."

Now lets look at how many GA aircraft were used in terrorist attacks 2 weeks ago ?

Thats right NONE they were commercial aircraft. So why pick on GA.

Who is Paul Hudson anyway? Sounds like he has lost the plot. What a prat.

Yes but a prat who's obviously able to get publicity and "credibility" .... we in the GA movement need more emphasis and publicity on the positive aspects.

The fact that this guy can stand up there and spout this rubbish points at the relative inability of our representative organisations to get themselves a high public profile in order to educate and publicise the truth about GA.

Unfortunately the media siezes upon the sensational and ignores the detail and background because it's - not sensational.

I'm not necessarily saying our organisations are incompetent - just that its more difficult to be sensational about bland, boring normality & common sense.

But maybe we are all too busy flying to be bothered?

Anyone know how many private A/C are on the USA (I assume) register, 1 million seems very high to me? I think the population of the USA is about 250 million so 1 in 250 owns a plane? Is this just more uniformed crap from a body that should know better?
