Question NPPL instructors

Has anyone got any information on the likely qualifications needed to be a NPPL instructor? Will a CPL be required. I have been interested in teaching flying in a club as a "hobby" for some time now but can't afford the time or cost of FI training and a CPL.

Although AOPA remain determined to achieve remunerated NPPL-holding FIs, this will not happen for quite a while yet. We may not get the NPPL agreed until Spring 02 and that will only be for Day VFR private flying. Work on securing agreement for NPPL-holding FIs will only begin once the NPPL is in place - it's the same group of people who are doing all the work and it does take time! And even then, agreement has to be achieved amongst the UK GA organisations represented at the National PPL Steering Committee before the proposals can be presented to the CAA.....

I wouldn't hold your breath. Sorry!
