Post Flying from Thailand

I've just joined the Chiang Mai flying club and I'm looking to hour build in Thailand later this year. I would like to get in touch with people who have flown in this region for some advice on places to go and flight procedures for PVT international flights. I am keen on flying to Rangoon (Yangon) via Mae Sot and would like to know if this is possible, given the unstable political situation in Myanmar.

TIA, Cheers

I only passed through the region, but I would say:
1. beware lack of avgas at Yangon - I don't think they normally keep stocks.
2. beware ridiculous handling charges at large Thai airports.
3. enjoy the CB's !

Training wheels, as you've probably noticed, there's a lot of very high terrain west of CNX and with cloud base usually greater than 5 Octas this time of year, flying VFR can be quite a challenge.

If you're flying IFR and wish to proceed direct CNX to RGN, then the LSALT is around 9000 ft for some of the leg. What type of aircraft do you intend to fly?

I haven't heard of anyone flying to RGN on a private flight, but you might want to check out the Thai Flying Club homepage at http://www.thaiflyingclub.com for more info.

Good luck
