Compatibility of David Clark & Flightcom

I've got a personal set of David Clark's but bought a cheap pair of Flightcom's for passengers on Ebay. I thought the mic wasn't working on the Flightcom set as passengers couldn't talk to me (but could hear me). When I tried the Flightcom set the radio check was fine. Is it just that the two sets aren't compatible?

It's not the headsets that are the problem................. it is the third rate intercom in the aircraft.

Did you experiment with the squelch setting on the intercom? That's fixed about 90% of similar issues I've had. Failing that it could be a dodgy electrical connection somewhere between the passenger headset jacks and the intercom but I'd experiment with squelch first.

Some Intercom systems (typically old PA28s) wire the Mics in parallel, if they are of a different impedance i.e. different type of mic, quite often one stops the other working. The easy way around it is to get a portable intercom box which isolates the mics.
