Liverpool overhead?
Planning a trip SW to Hawarden then North to Glenforsa this weekend. Am I likely to be given a transit through the overhead at Liverpool on the way down - and heading North, will I be routed (VFR) to Seaforth VRP, or further West via say, WAL VOR?
thanks.
thanks.

If you are planning to fly overhead Hawarden (as opposed to landing there) Liverpool are most likely to offer you WAL or Kirkby and then towards Blackpool. By staying a little more to the West and routing along the West Bank of the River Dee you don't even need to enter Liverpool Airspace. However Liverpool are pretty helpful though they don't normally offer transit through the airfield overhead.

Liverpool ATC are very helpful when they can be, unless it is very quiet, not likely at weekends, you are unlikely to get overhead the field.
They will often offer Seaforth - Neston or if you ask Kirkby - LPL - the south of M56 towards Hawarden.
Or you could just use the LLR to M56 and ask for Zone Clearance to Hawarden from there.
The most import ant thinkg is to make your request in good time and in the proper way - if you sound as if you know what you are doing you are more likely to get the clearance you want.
On the trip North I would plan on getting Neston - Seaforth.
Enjoy!

Liverpool are very good at giving zone transits.
If you are travelling from the NE towards Hawarden (as you imply), possible routing is to travel down Low Level Route to pick up the M56 for Liverpool Zone transit towards Chester.

Liverpool very helpful, thanks for your advices.
MFC_Fly - waited until the afternoon to head off then realised Hawarden closes at 1600h, so missed them and went to Carlisle instead to do the drop off! Assume your trip back North was easier?
