No, Jersey is easy. It's a pleasant place to visit.

You need to give 12hrs notice to Special Branch with the GAR form, and then just fly as per normal route planning (get the map out and plan it outside controlled airspace).

Significantly over-water flights should carry a life raft, IMHO.

Here is what I recomend . Do a trip to the Isle of White and then Le Touque , short over water trips get you into the feel of things .

For scenery, its hard to beat the spectacular North Cornwall coast ..... all way from Hartland Point ( Devon )...all the way down to Lands End . Excellent service from Newquay LARS and both Perranporth and the strip at Roserrow are must visits .

where to fly

Hi I fly to Jersey every other week and would be glad to chat over things with you. If you are fairly new as a PPL just be careful if the vis is poor it can be a sunny day but still really be IFR with no horizon to speak of. As one of the other guys said Cornwall is very nice, I visit Perrenporth at least one a year. PM me if you want a bit more info

Angel Jersey

Hello Jugs08

Jersey is super friendly, the ATC very helpful and VAT Free

Check the Jersey Aero Club web site:
Jersey Aero Club - Home

Also we have created a visiting pilot information pack, the link to the PDF file is on this page:Jersey Aero Club - Destination Jersey

Most PPL pilots fly the VFR route from the Isle of white to just east of Cherbourg

If you have any questions call the flying room on +44 (0)1534 743990

This weekend (Friday to Sunday) we are having the 55th Jersey International Air Rally, flying competitions between Normandy and Jersey and a weekend of good food and booze (responsibly consumed of course).

If you want to enter you still have until tomorrow to sign up.

Please look at the thread for more information:
http://www.pprune.org/private-flying...air-rally.html

Whatever you decide enjoy your first trip.
