Anyone managed to fly over Scotland lately??

Looks like I missed all the fun last night on the original thread as I slept soundly..........being a bit of a softy I have responded to a PM request to remove the thread before it caused any more embarrasment to a certain forumite........I guess his happiest day so far in aviation turned a wee bit sour after his posting on here last night........Those old and wise around this forum let their thoughts be known about his actions and I am sure he will have learnt a lesson.....I guess its all part of growing up......................................anyway lets now get back to the original thread.........who is managing to fly over Scotland in this weather???? Photo's would be nice to see

Haven't been up much recently at all. Managed to get in two consecutive mornings over East Lothian however the weekend before Christmas. Was lovely, real winter wonderland stuff. Had a bit of bother getting started at first (cold engine, flat battery, wing covers frozen like cardboard) but was well worth it. Didn't get any pics unfortunately, was by myself the first day; the next day my passenger forgot the camera. D'oh

Was hoping to get up this weekend but will need to see how the forecast shapes up. Viz rather poor thru here this morning.

After his post last night I wish RJ all the best.......... we all make mistakes in life ( I am an expert at that!! ) so no one should hold that against you, providing we learn from those mistakes that's all that matters....good luck and lets hope soon you can consolidate on your first solo flight......please come back and let the world know!

Actaully thats a point when are you going to get strapped in and get solo again Fisbangwallop. I bet all your collegues can't wait for the usual RT confusion when game keeper turns poacher.

Nah best time of year to learn or it used to be when I did this instructing lark full time.

Nice crisp air. Engine performs like a good un, no thermal turb, no f'cking gliders or microlights getting in the way.

Shorts are good in theory but you just end up with freezing legs where the air comes in around your ankles

The original thread had the Fife webcam linked which gave me the idea to go and look for more UK airfields. I didn't do them all (some of them were a bit boring ) but it was fun going through and seeing the different views.

Jersey and Heathrow were offline and I couldn't find any other Scottish cams.

Anyway, thought you lot might like the results.

fisbangwollop: I have been to Prestwick once: I was en route to Mull and the weather closed in. Everyone was terribly helpful and there was a US military plane waiting for a part to be flown in. My son got a tour and thought it was "much nicer" than our PA32. *sigh*

We stayed the night and made it to Glenforsa the next morning. I'd love to see ATC so I'll plan it in next time! I've not had the time/money to do many of the islands yet but I'm hoping to make some progress this summer.

quilmes: Added to my bookmarks, thanks! Now I just need the sun to rise so I can see!

Something reminded me of this thread and I decided to do a Spring collection around the UK:

Fear of Landing » Nothing is so Beautiful as Spring

But I sure would love to see some more aerial photographs if you up there this weekend!
