CAA permit aircraft - maintainance
if you have a plane like a yak 50 or other similar ex mil types etc, they are always operated on a CAA permit to fly - is that correct?
do owners do their own maintainance on some of these aircraft, as with PFA/LAA permits to fly, or is it the same regime as for certified aircraft?
thanks.

I am also waiting to see what EASA will do regarding permits. I have an aircraft which although on a C of A will have to go on a permit of some sort. I'm not sure about the LAA route and may stick with the CAA.

actually, while i'm on here, another quick question.
how long do engines last for before re-build / replacement? - just a bog standard IO360 or whatever...
i've only flown other peoples planes so i've no idea!
