Short-term insurance

Does anyone know if it's possible to insure an aircraft for less than the traditional 12 months, say 3 or even 6 months ?

It is possible, but might not be hugely cost affective; I wouldn't expect much difference in price between 3 or 6 months. Your ins broker should be able to give you an estimate/quote.
