Renewing long expired licence
I have tried search and think Beagle may have answered this several years ago but not sure I fully understand.
I met a woman today who had a full PPL that lapsed 5 years ago and thinks she might want to get it back.
She thought she had to do all the ground exams again plus flight tests,I told her I thought she needed to do a few hours with an instructor to get up to speed and then do a flight test of some sort with an examiner ,but not sure of the details or where to find them.
Plus medical of course.

She just needs to do sufficient training with an Instructor to pass an LST. The examiner sends the paperwork and the CAA issue the new ratings page rather than the examiner. So she would not able to fly after the test until she has the paperwork in her hand.

Slight Extension to the Question!
I'm an old style CAA PPL who has not flown since Mar 04 (first son was born May 04 - possible connection! ) - SEP Class Rating expired Aug 05.
Have checked LASORS and it seems like I have to redo the Nav section of the test again these days.
Old chestnut I know and can't quite track down the exact passage in LASORS for this one - IIRC, the flights to get me back up to a test standard do not count as 'training' but as 'P1S'. Am I correct in remembering that this flying could be done in an aircraft with a Private C of A? Could the LPC also be done in this aircraft?
If anyone wishes to PM / email me about a recommended instructor / examiner in the Bournemouth / Compton area who may be willing to undertake such aforesaid training, then I'd always be willing to listen! I do know Derek Davidson (he originally sent me solo / signed of my original licence in 1996!) and have no gripes with him but just wondered what other recommendations may be around.

No all you have to do is sufficient training to pass the Licensing Skill Test. As per http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/33/FORSRG1157.pdf There is an element of navigation Section 3A but that's at the examiners discretion. Take me to X, now divert to Y etc.
No, they are DUAL as you do not have a valid licence; the test if passed is P1S.
As you are within 5 years, an Examiner can sign you up on the spot.

I got mine back last year after a 17 year break, all I had to do was pass an SEP revalidation to be legal, and take the RT exam as I never did it in the '80s.
I revised my flying up to full Test standard and revised all the theory up to exam standard as well, just to be safe. I was amazed how quickly the flying skills came back and also how difficult the theory was at 38 compared to 17!
