Updating A Garmin Gns530/430

I wonder if any of you can help..................

I need to update a Garmin GNS 530 and 430. My research so far has taken me to the Garmin web site where I am told to go to the Jeppesen web site. The Jepp site contains nothing about GPS updates.

I have updated my own 296 many times via the web but the 530/430 seems more of a challenge.

Any ideas?

You will need a Jeppesen Programmer and software and a subscription with Jeppesen to update it.

I'm not very technical, so I sent the little card thing to Harry Mendelssohn who very efficiently updated it for me

Yep, me too on the HM method. Works out cheaper if you are going for occassional (annual) updates. I think it was around £100 the last time.

My subscription with Jepps costs about £250 per annum and I get 13 updates sent during theyear. Once you have paid for the subscription, you download the Jeppesen Services Update Manager (JSUM) from the website and they send you a little gizmo which plugs into a USB slot and the Garmin 430 chip goes in the other end.

Once you have it set up it is very easy to do.
