Duplicating a logbook

Hi. I want to tidy my logbook up as it's a bit scruffy early on, and as I think I'm going to stick at it may as well get one of the larger books now rather than the freeby I was given with my PPL course. I was just going to get a new one and duplicate all the info - my PPL examiner is accessible so should be able to re-stamp (in fact he made a hash of that as well first time round). I know it's a legal document etc, but is there any reason why this isn't as straightforward as it seems?

Why duplicate? Just close off the old one and transfer the totals into a new logbook as book number 2? Your logbook regardless of it's condition is a record of your road on aviation.

It should carry memories of milestones and achievements. Binning it because you don't like the look of it is a bit like binning a picture because you don't like the frame!!!
