Landing fees??
Does anybody know how to find out prices for ground handling/handling fees in airports across europe for GA small airplanes?
I`m planning a cross country trip IFR from september onwards of about 50 hours, but I`d like to avoid most expensive airports...not sure yet the areas where i`ll be flying, but I might rent the aircraft either in Holland or in Italy and then see where to go.
Can anybody help?
grtz

Flying here is relatively inexpensive. As a visitor you can get something called a weekly season card that can run for a period of 7 consecutive days. You can get several of these. Here is a link a pdf that describes the Norwegian one (scroll to page 2 for English). There is something similar available in Sweden too. English is spoken well by controllers and most pilots, and the skies are rather empty. If you are hour building and cost is your main concern, I would go to Canada or America.

Canada and America have already been taken into account, but since to fly IFR there I would have to re-do the IR the price is the same as if I simply rent an aircraft here and just fly...
thanks for the info,I was wondering if there`s any guide or anything written somewhere (AIP???) to find out landing fees and other taxes that have to be paid at any given airport....

For Sweden, you can find the Flight Planning Services and a link to the AIP here. They list the airports operated by the LFV (government) and some of the others in the AIC, but most of the airfields are privately held and you will have to check their fees. Many are free of charge. There is a great airfield guide, but it's in Swedish and I don't know of any English ones. Contact the KSAB (royal flying society retail store) and maybe they make up trip kits for tourists??
I don't know about the U.S., but in Canada it's not that hard to convert a JAA license and IR. Look here. You definitely don't re-do the IR. Even the Europeans don't make you do that. I'm Canadian, so I don't know about visa requirements, etc. I never heard of any unless you want to study or work. Hour building would be recreational as far as I know. Good Luck.

eddh.de has reviews (PIREPs) and last-known prices for a good selection of airports.
In principle GEN 4.1 of each country's AIP is supposed to detail prices but the level of detail varies hugely.
E.g. UK says "Landing charges for UK Aerodromes and Heliports are not established centrally and vary between Aerodrome Operators."

Landing fees
If you are traveling across France you can find out the cost of landing fees at most airfield on this site. Those that don't show a fee are generally free.
It is a good learning experience to explore the site. You should find it fairly straightforward even if you don't understand the language.
You will need to accept a couple of site disclaimers before you can enter.
