Hotels / B&B with landing strip
I am looking to take the wife away, and was looking for either a hotel or a B&B with a landing strip to suit a PA28.
Location not important other than UK it needs to be in the UK and mainly in the southern part of the UK, but will consider other locations.
Thanks
Craig

Croft Farm (Defford) a little north of Cheltenham
Defford Airfield, Croft Farm, Defford - Airfield Information
The Oak is about a 200 yard walk from the strip
PA28's no problem

Blakelands Hotel Bobbington shares a boundary with Halfpenny Green. Helicopters have been known to land in the grounds and the airport is just over the other side of the hedge or a very short taxi ride away.

Perth
Perth has a B&B hotel on the airfield. It makes a handy location for exploring Scotland. There are local sites of interest on the ground for rainy days when flying is not such a good idea, and the stunning scenery of the Highlands and Islands for those days the sun shines and visibility is good.

Herefordshire Aero Club at Shobdon has it's own static caravan for hire but if you don't fancy that there are several pubs and B&Bs nearby. It also has its own cafe and bar on site so finding your way back to your bunk needn't be a problem as the static caravan is within easy crawling distance.

Again, not in the south, but Islay is worth considering. The Machrie Hotel (Welcome to the Machrie Hotel and Golf Links - Isle of Islay - Scotland ) is no more than a couple of miles down the road from the airport, and if you ask nicely, they might even come and collect you.
I did an overnight trip there in a PA28 a couple of years ago (although only a 40 minute trip over from Prestwick) and it worked out a treat.
The airport is Highlands and Islands, I have always found them really accomodating. They do out of hours indemnity (at least they do for my flying club), which means as long as you have PPR, you can land out of hours, thus avoiding the restrictions brought about by the HIAL opening times.
As for the island, it is just fantastic. Golf, whiskey (maybe not the same day as the trip home though) and other products of Islay appearing in the phonetic alphabet !!!

Having not flown a light aircraft for nearly 4 years, i would swop my 737 Malaga trip for the Croft/Oak pic anyday.
It make me very glad looking into this forum seeing people enjoying what seems the best of flying and it's people. Very nice.

You know what, all though 300 miles away i will try and make it. Having been born at Wroughton and having instructed at Kemble i know of Oaksey very well.
As a little boy i used to sit and have Chicken in the basket at a pub in Ashton Keynes with lots of tanned RAF men in red flying suits. Didn't rub off much on me as i now resemble Shrek!!!!!
Thanks for the invite.

Plockton has to be my all time favourite of the Scottish coastal or island strips. Tarmac with hangarage, very peaceful, short stroll down hill in to the village with a good variety of hotels, bar food, restaurants, shop, chippie etc. It's so still and sheltered there eating outside gazing across the bay has to be experienced.
Maybe a bit too far north for you as you say but don't rule it out.
