Cmfu Nop

When I use my old link to log on to the CFMU Flight Plan Assisitant-Structured Editor, it now come up with CMFU NOP Network Operations Portal.

Where on that page is the access to the Structured Editor or as it is now called IFPUV Structured Editor?

Have a look here:

https://www.cfmu.eurocontrol.int/PUB...pec/index.html

Then in the little box labelled IFPUV about half way down on the far right-hand side you'll see it as "Structured Editor". Unfortunately I don't think you can bookmark the link itself as it's address changes for some reason...

Why did they have to meddle?!

Many thanks - I am as blind as a bat not to have seen it. (Don't tell my AME!)

PS

"Why did they have to meddle"?

Agreed.

Now Having got on and validated a route I can't print out the page so I can actually file it

It was done at least partly to stop certain automated airway route development tools from working. Eurocontrol have a commercial interest in supporting their licensed customers who pay substantial money for access to their online aviation database and software tools.

"Eurocontrol have a commercial interest in supporting their licensed customers who pay substantial money for access to their online aviation database and software tools. "

This is totally false.
It was done as this service is an operational service of the Eurocontrol/CFMU (which operates this system). The CFMU could'nt not cope with the extra bandwith & system CPU needed in case of massive use of IFPUV (as it was done by some totally non-professional company). So the access (that was fitted to be used on a Business to Consumer basis, not on a Business to Business basis) had been modified.
A more regulated Business-to-Business access will be provided in the coming months.
No user (there is no "licensed customers") is charged for submitting a flight plan to Eurocontrol.

don't take offence, IO sees corruption and conspiracy in everything in aviation!

While that's true, and you're entitled to outraged by IO540's slur , there are charges for system-to-system access to EAD.

I really have to agree with the general feedback above on the "portal". Why meddle? The WWW and HTML were designed (some would say "have evolved") to provide collections of related pages called "WWW sites". Browsers and standards have evolved to use these optimally.

The "portal" is nothing more than a collection of related pages. If I really wanted to see AIMs and Situation bar graphs on the same screen, and it were simply implemented as HTML, then I'd just open another window or tab. Because it has been implemented in Flash, I'm left with a page cluttered with information, most of which I don't want, some of which I'm not allowed to see, and the counter-intuitive behaviours of the components (like opening a new window without a bookmarks bar when I click on the More link for the map).
Keep It Simple.

A more regulated Business-to-Business access will be provided in the coming months.
I can't remember whether I'm allowed to comment on the pilot, but if I am , then this, by contrast, is an excellent implementation that leaves minimalists like me very happy.

Tsinapah, are you sure this was a "business" and not some bunch of script kids running a DOS attack?

The software route generation tools were developed by private pilots for private pilots. There was no business of any kind. And now we are basically stuffed............. back in the land of CFMU telling the pilot "I don't like your filed routing but hohohohoho I DO know a good routing but hohohohoho I am not telling you what it is "
