Aero clubs in Ireland.

Hi.

Was wondering if anyone know of any aero clubs around Ireland that have C-152's and at what rate do they rent them out? Cheers...

NFC based in Weston have several 152s. Theyre charging €165 per hour for solo rental. Instructor rates are €40 per hour on top of that.

Why it is so expensive in Ireland?. My local hires PA 38's for € 110 per hour. You would have to go for a relatively new Archer 3, IFR, twin GNS 430's and autopliot to pay close to €165. At the prices you are being charged would shared ownership not begin to make sense?

I'm not being critical, just astounded that anyone could afford to stay aloft at those rates.

What is the hourly fuel burn on a C150? I'm guessing around 35 ltrs per hour.

35ltrs * €2.50per litre = a little under €90 per hour on fuel alone. I can't see how a school in Ireland could survive charging €110 per hour for something using €90 of fuel in that time.

dp, I would say that the fuel burn in a 150 is closer to 18-20l/h.

DP - Your fuel prices are obviously higher. I believe we pay something in the order of €1,90 per litre.

So your fuel would account for about €50 of the total hire price on a burn of 20lph. Still seems a tad high at €165 but c'est la vie!
