Talking Great Barrier Reef

I had the great fortune last week to be in Cairns for the final stages of a family holiday. I contacted a local flying club prior to my departure from the UK and tentatively booked a pleasure come training flight (I'm a 13 hour student) in a C172. To my delight they (North Queensland Aero Club) accepted my log book and so 80 minutes of memories were created. After leaving the local Cairns airspace we were able to descend to 500ft and fly over parts of the Great Barrier Reef for around 40 minutes. We then climbed to 1,500ft and flew over Port Douglas and parts of the rain forest before commencing our descent back into Cairns. What a lucky chap I am!
