Where have all the JPs gone?

Only a few years ago there seemed to be Jet Provosts on the market regularly. Where have they all gone?
Anybody know of a nice one becoming available?

There are plenty around, even flying, just not doing many hours due Fuel / running costs / recession etc.

You could do worse than visit North Weald where there is a maintenance organisation and quite a few based...

PM if you want any more info...

There are also six or seven JPs/Strikemasters at Hawarden. Unfortunately operating costs have shot up due to the tax on avtur for non business use.

Time to spare, go by air

Didn't they all have a mainspar A/D that meant aerobatics were prohibited, thereby removing at a stroke one of the main reasons for owning/flying a JP?

That was relaxed last year but with a G restriction on aero's in the interim if my memory serves me correctly.

Would love to start a JP group in Scotland if I could get enough interested punters but pretty unlikely given the credit crunch doom and gloom....

Found one!

I stopped for gas today at a small airport on the outskirts of El Paso, Texas. I saw the tail of the Varsity first, and it lead me to the Jet Provost. I suppose they're keeping each other company, in this highly un-British place! I think they're there to stay!

I've seen one in an open hangar in Paris, Texas. Doesn't look like it'll be doing much flying in the near future tho'...

I believe that there's a JP/Strikemaster at N Weald that's being worked on now and will be rolled out in the colours of a Middle East Air Force.

JP MK 5;

They also have a Strikemaster painted up in desert camo with Royal Saudi Air Force markings on it which i don't yet have a photo of.

Okay, nice photos, but maybe my thread starter should have read:

I am hoping to hear of one/some.

XM464 in Texas !!

I last flew it from RAF Linton-on-Ouse on March 10th 1978.

Strange where these old JPs get to. And what happened to my 31 years - someone stole them?

Deltajets at Kemble have at least 2 JPs & deal with shares in JP's / Hunters. I am sure they have the expertise, knowledge & contacts.
