Talking Coming back to fly - how have things changed?

Big question, I know!

I nearly did it two years ago but went off a bit "half-cocked". I had some discussions with various people on here about buying a plane (ScooterBoy especially - thanks!). I'm now much better prepared but I have a silly question.

I have a CAA PPL... is such a beast still valid? Can I keep it or does it need to be changed into a JAA PPL? I'd like to keep it because it lasts forever! I think the new JAA thing has to be renewed every five years.

I've downloaded LASORS from the CAA website and tried to read it but can't find the answer in there.

Many more questions in the pipeline!

Thanks in advance,

Tony

Good news!

So, on to the next question.

I'm in France, is a JAA examiner allowed to conduct the skills test as part of the re-issue of the licence?

Cheers,

Tony

I renewed my PPL by doing a Skills Test with a French JAA Examiner at Flers a couple of years ago and this was accepted by CAA.

You can also take advantage of the new rules regarding French JAA Class II medicals now. See the other thread in Private Flying http://www.pprune.org/private-flying...ical-fees.html

Good luck.

I used to fly out of Norwich quite a lot! All of this "security mania" seems to have gotten a bit out of hand! At least in France, we don't seem to be so afflicted! No little yellow jackets down here - that I've seen, at any rate!

Good luck.
I've just taken an appointment with the good Dr Mouchard at Blagnac. Seems a bit more expensive than the numbers you've quoted but I'll know for sure on Thursday.
