What are your flying Objectives in 2009
-- finish my PPL-H
-- figure out what on (or rather, above) earth is going on in a Lomcevak
-- make rolling turns work
-- pluck up the courage to fly outside loops on my own
-- get my plane back from the avionics shop! (6 weeks so far for a "simple" autopilot installation)
-- maybe do my CPL-ASEL if I get time

Hmmmm
>Fly to a few different airfields, namely Wellesbourne, Perranporth and Dundee.
>Get Tail Dragger rated, hopefully in a Chipmunk.
>Take CPL exams with a view to becoming an FI (Not the hour building type!).
>Flying to the moon would be nice, but think that's beyond the range of an Archer III.

- To get a job well paid enough to fund my expensive new hobby.
- To get a night rating so I can take my best friend flying on November 5th to watch all the pretty lights.
- Not to die as a result from aspiration number 2.

Get my PPL within the next six weeks.
Get a share (hopefully!)
Get out and about - got friends from Glasgow to Truro that would benefit from a fly-in.
Gather enough experience have a stab at the mountain flying course in Courcheval at some point, either at year end or in 2010.
(but basically, not to be one of those people who PPL up then never use it! )

1) Go to a few new places perhaps Popham, Old Sarum
2) take a few people up with me
3) make it to Lands End (and back)
4) depending upon 3, its a confidence booster, start planning to go to the Scilly Isles

Flying High in 2009!
Great question.
I write down my objectives every year (dont complete them by a long way). Here are this year's;
1) Fly a seaplane or amphibian to Norway - Archangel in my Father's war-time footsteps (Coastal Command PBY Catalinas) - if I can hire a seaplane in UK!!
2) Complete IR, CPL, MEP, in Florida in Spring - any suggestions on school gratefully received.
3) Fly Piper Cub to Loch Earne Ireland
4) Complete aerobatics course with Ultimate High that was weathered off three times this year.
5) Fly at Aero Club Como as many times as possible
6) Keep Robin HR100/200B flying as much as possible
Find a way of paying for all of this!

Thanks folks, there are some great replies on here, and a whole wide range from simply keeping jobs, to flying outside loops, embarking on new careers, but above all having fun.
Perhaps people would be kind enough to update their progress every once in a while - perhaps when you have ticked off something on the list.
By the way since my original post, I've cancelled two flights (weather) and not flown! Oh well!
Keep 'em coming.
Regards,
Cricket

Empty my bank account on an IR, sell my worldly possessions on Ebay, move to the SE Asian jungle, start a job paying about 20% of what I make currently on the ground.
Wouldn't have it any other way! ;-)

1. Stay healthy (having lost 5 months of flying in 2008 due to loss of medical, now reinstated)
2. Complete IMC
3. Spread my wings a bit more. The route from Coventry - Bembridge - Swansea - Coventry, all plotted, but last two attempts thwarted by weather
4. Remain a cautious pilot!
