N-reg in NZ?

Here's one I posted earlier on D&G which I would like to try here also:

What is the situation for a non NZ national with an FAA IR to keep and fly a private N-reg aircraft in NZ? Is there a time limit? Can I fly IFR on my license? If so, are there FAA authorised maintenance facilities?

Any input gratefully received.

Len Cowper is an FAA registered inspection engineer, who helps put US aircraft on the NZ register.

I don't know the rules, but I'm sure he will.

If PPrUne won't publish the e-mail I'm placing here, PM me.
