First Solo!

Well it has happened. After 45mins of brushing up on emergencies my instructor stepped out and I had the plane to myself-

http://www.airport-data.com/images/a...009/009350.jpg

Hit me when i left the ground, there was one certainty, I was going to some back down, somehow! Flew the circuit, final became a little too high and fast so decided to go around but landed no problems 2nd attempt.

Had come congratulations calls on the radio, which was nice. So now got 20mins P1.

Then decided to have a go at MET, wish I hadnt as failed by one mark, but still ill sort it next time..

Good idea.

The dry mouth isn't too much of a problem for that first single circuit. However, I remember my first full circuit bashing session left me with a distinctly sore throat.

Well done.

Congrats!

Dry mouth on first solo. Snap! Have to start calling it newbies mouth, or something.

Well done on the first solo, great achievement!

Yes still remember the feeling as the wheels left the ground & thinking "there's only one person can put this back down now - & it's me!"

Well done & better luck next time with the exam - you're probably already using it by I found the "Confuser" to be absolutely invaluable to passing exams.

WELL DONE!

It was only about 100 hours after my first solo that the fear of having to make a landing, and having your life in your hands, which is generated on take off roll, subsided. It doesn't occur to me anymore and I'm wondering if that's a good or bad thing?

Did you talk to yourself out loud? I did, from take off to final. Think I was making up the fact that no-one was next to me!

Liam,

Very many congratulations! Also, you are to be applauded for having the sense to go around on your first solo if it didn't look right.

MET passed today with 90% glad to get it out of way 2nd time round.

The questions seems more obscure though.

There was one that asked about the setting moon, something I have not come across before either on the CD ROM or confuser.

Q if the moon was setting in the west, which direction would offer best availablilty?

a) to the West

b) to the north

c) to the south

d) visibilty will be the same in all directions

I put D.

Also did 30 mins of further solo today with slight crosswind. The 1st 30mins were all great with my instructor and the 1st of my landings on my own was spot on. The last two were terrible tho... Oh well I remember reading on here before I started that there are plenty of ups and downs wit the PPL. Pardon the pun...

Just remember that a tidy final but heavy onto the main gear is a good landing.

Untidy final and then greasing it down is a poor landing.

Keep up the good work.
