I plan to go and have a look this weekend if im not working but i just thought i'd ask on here as well. I know my old group never used to advertise but there were usually shares available.

as has been said, have a look at the board, but i don`t remember seeing any when i was in there recently.
there are however a couple of very low cost PA28-140 groups, with share prices starting at around £1000.
