Calling Irish holders of CAA PPL(A)

Question for any Irish pilots holding the above UK national PPL (ICAO on the cover) license, issued up to, I think, 2001:

Have any of you tried to get a UK-issued JAA PPL(A)?

Any stumbling blocks met, eg flying done in EI-reg aircraft etc?

Any input greatly appreciated
