Hand-held GPS with RMI
Sorry if this has been covered previously but cannot find a reference. Does anyone know if any of the popular GPS makers produce one with a simulated RMI (or even RBI) display . I have a Garmin 196 which has a HSI display but there are many occasions when it would be very useful to have a needle pointing at the location. The 196 does have this facility, but only in LAND mode, not in Aviation.

On the 96c you can set the bug (rather than a needle) to the bearing of your next waypoint. I think this option is accessed by pressing menu on the HSI display. Maybe there is something similar on the 196.

That feature would be called an OBS mode.
IFR units all have it - I believe by regulation. Great for flying DIY VOR and NDB approaches
It makes very little sense unless you have a moving map display on which to show the waypoint and the two lines sticking out of it in opposite directions.
I am not aware of a handheld which does exactly that, but there could be some.
