Fuel Duty - Good(ish) News

Not sure if this has been posted already:

Today, HMRC officials have announced in response to the fuel duty consultation, in relation to the Energy Products Directive, that there will be no increase on the duty applied to avgas. The rate of 30.35p per litre is equal to the EU minimum rate, which is the rate argued for by AOPA.

On avtur, duty will only apply to recreational/pleasure flights and the planned collection method is self declaration. Unfortunately the duty rate being proposed by HMRC is 50.35p per litre. All of this is subject to final confirmation from HMRC.

The UK government’s proposal for aviation duty is still being consulted on.

Members should know that this saves them hundreds of pounds per year.

I mentioned it but buried away in the "next step after Le Touquet" post.
