Preston Lancs

Hi All
Can anyone tell me if there are any airfields/strips near to Preston. Ruled out Blackpool, Woodvale, Warton. Anthing with 350 metres or more would be nice.

Thanks

What's wrong with Blackpool? There is a Hertz desk at the airport and the road link is OK. It was the best I could find.

How about the parachute site at Cockerham?

Blackhawks

What are you looking to operate?

There's a gliding site at Chipping just north of Preston.

Or what about Salmesbury just east of the M6?

Don't on any account try the disused site just nw of Preston as there are one or two aerials to contend with.

Take a floatplane and land on the River Ribble.

btw what have you got against Preston International (Squires Gate) Airport?

Thanks everyone. I need to go to Tarleton not too infrequently and it is about a 3 hours drive for me but only about 40 mins direct by air. No contest really. Blackpool is still quite far away and expensive for landing/parking/taxi etc. tarleton is south west of Preston so if any one knows of anything around that area then info most gratefully received.

Burscough, near Ormskirk? Don't know if it's still usuable, as it's many years since I was a regular there. But it's probably the closest to Tarleton.

Burscough is disused now. Some of the hangers are home to the Merseyside Transport Trust bus collection.

Workinghard you got to be joking when you say that blackpool is too far away !? It costs me £10 return to blackpool from a town further out but close to preston!

INCE?

What GA could land at Ince? It would be far easier to fly up there rather than drive on Bank holidays when the traffic is manic.

Any competent pilot in a suitable GA aircraft.

Nice airfield, nice people. Hope to go back there sometime in the summer but it's more convenient for Southport than Preston.
