Pa31 Tr

hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has recently done a PA31 or C210 type rating? im due to start one or the other in a couple of months and just after a bit of advice. are the sims any good? i was quoted £12,500 but haggled them down to £9,500.

If it's the same PA31 or C210 i'm thinking of then it's a multi-engine class rating that's required unless it falls under HPA (High Performance Aircraft) due to pressurisation. If it's a MEP class rating then 6h of MEP training,a test and written exam on a piston twin are all that's required, but it would of course very sensible to be checked out on the particular make and model by an experienced instructor!

I'm pretty sure you do not need a 'type rating' for these aircraft types.

Check LASORS to see if you need a type rating for any of these models, the only thing i can think of that would make them require it would be pressurisation, which variants of these models can have.

The kind of money you have been quoted would pay for a type rating on a King Air or Citation!

I think some body is dinging your bell!!!! for a little more you could get yourself a Lear/ Citation or double it and your on your way to a boeing/Airbus................. As already stated differences only........... a multi engine type rating is required in order to get paid ie CPL and that can be done on any multi engined aircraft eg; Seneca/Duchess.

PA31 Training

A Cheiftain is a multi engined piston class, a flight test by an FE will renew your rating (if you have one) the operator should then do differences training at their expense.
If you need a multi rating the requirement is 70 hrs TT before you start then 6 hours + flight test and ground exam, must be done through a FTO

Similarly, a Cessna 210 is Single Engined Piston class and would just need differences training if its pressurised, I believe.

Allthough I am tempted by a trip to Vegas and strippers I must confess this to being a bit of fun.
Im doing a TR at the moment on something a bit bigger than a PA31...just needed a break from studying. Sorry guys, but nice to know some people on prune still have a sense of humour.
On a serious note, anyone know what is happening with Sheffield City Airport? im a yorkshireman, but being out the country for a while...
Snowman.
