Chelmsford
Where is the nearest place to land around Chelmsford as we have a friend badly injured who has been taken there for surgery and it would make life easier for his mum to fly down rather than drive

hi, you have a few places to try...
Southend EGMC. Good airport, full atc, ils/ndb approaches. 40 mins drive.
Stapleford EGSG. Busy but basic tarmac/grass airfield. A/G RT. No procedural approach. 30 mins drive.
Andrewsfield EGSL. Nice grass airfield. A/G only. No procedures. Very close to Stansted CTR and not so easy to spot! be careful. 30 mins drive.
Hope that helps.

There is also Rayne Hall Farm near to Braintree which is only 20 minutes from the Chelmsford hospitals. Grass, A/G only, but very friendly.
