At the Sun 'n Fun in Lakeland Diamond has revealed an XLS with the G1000 Synthetic Vision.
Haven't seen it in person yet but if it even looks half as good as the pics on the Garmin website:

NASA and some others were talking about the new avionics at the VLJ conference a couple of weeks ago coming out shortly and it seems that this kind of technology will be commonplace and just get better and better, who fancies coming in with me to set up avionic training schools to teach people how to use them - evening class type stuff at ga airfields -
i just hope that pilots use them for their intended use and NOT push the limits in IMC just because they have a graphic interpretation of the approach terrain and runway location.......!!!!

Not IMC TM, I just saw it myself, the OAT is showing zero degrees celsius.
Anyway, it will be factory standard in the following aircraft (for now):
It is advertised to be just a software upgrade for existing G 1000 installations, no hardware installation required.

SVT upgrade
Notice on US Diamond website that they are offering this as a $9,950 option when bought new. Nothing on upgrade price , availability in Europe yet but certainly a very interesting bit of kit. The G1000 on our DA40 is excellent but this takes it to a new level. Also hope it is just a software upgrade without any downtime or hardware changes. Well done Garmin !

Link to the video on the right side of the page, second down.
Heike Larson (Diamond Sales North America) explains that they are in the process of determiniation as to which data base version needs which upgrade.
Shouldn't take but a couple of months to sort that out.
