I've done it.
Well,
It arrived this morning, so now it's all real. It really is poo brown! I'm so pleased it's not true.
Trial flight: 22/07/06
Solo: 08/04/07 (14 hours)
QXC: 06/09/07
Skills Test: 28/02/08
Total time to getting licence was 53:35. Considering that I did that over 20 months, I think it's not too bad.
I've not totted up the cost yet (it might scare the hell out of me) but I think it's about £8k.
Licence stuff was posted on 03/03, so for it to turn up today is a great turn around - 10 working days I think, including time spent in the post. Well done CAA.
All my training was done out of Barton with LAC Flying Club and they were great. Anyone thinking of doing training in the northwest feel free to PM me for the low down.
I've lurked here for the best part of two years, contributing on occasion but mainly reading and absorbing, so thank you lot too.

I'm lucky enough not to have a battleship grey one instead (well worth the extra money); but I can remember the grin that arrived on my face when it did arrive.
Very well done - and the hours / length of time is pretty impressive too. I don't think I will go and check mine for reference... might depress me!
Excellent work though!

Congratulations Mad Major.

Splendid chap, although there'd be much more fuss if someone emulated his exploit these days.
