London Airspace - act now?

Today is the last day of “consultation” (in so far our Government does this) on views about a third runway for Heathrow. In my opinion giving a third runway to BAA ranks about as sensible as handing a nuclear arsenal to Iran.

But from our viewpoint if a third runway were granted I can see the request from NATS pouring in before opening time to extend the TMA – making GA movements in the South East even more problematic.

I'm no expert but the bloke i saw at a safety evening (who got a thorough grilling on extending controlled airspace) mentioned that they are looking at reducing the sze of the TMA - probably worth treating that with scepticism as it was from the CAA
