durham tees valley

Hey,

just looking at another airfield to land at as part of CPL 300nm x-country flight and looking Durham Tees Valley - never been in before and would like to try somewhere different.

is the airport GA friendly and any advice from any local flyers would be great.

Cheers

I've been in twice, one planned and PPR'd and the other a divert. Both times everyone was very friendly and helpful. I'd recommend it.

Flew into Durham/Teeside today for my solo navigation exercise; ATC were very helpful. Ideally you should be assigned stand 9 outside the tower; otherwise it could be a long walk. Occasionally you will be met by the Duty Officer who will escort you through the main terminal to pay the landing fees at the 'Customer Services Desk' otherwise you have to go through a different security gate near the tower, walk around the perimeter fence, back into the terminal car park via the hotel gate and then into the main terminal. Also you will find a phone next to the customer services desk for booking out.
Security will ask for license/ID and depending on the personnel on duty expect to remove shoes, belt etc.

This is my experience from two visits (dual + solo), maybe someone more experienced could advise further.

I've recently completed my ppl whilst being based at Durham Tees Valley.

The ATC is generally very good and the controllers friendly and helpful.

Be prepared for some holding due to commercial traffic if you get there at the wrong time!

Can't really fault it though........
