Flight Logging software
Hi.
Not sure if this is the right place to post but anyway....im wondering if anyone can tell me if there is logbook software that allows you to enter your time in hours and minutes because all i can find are ones that allow you to long hours in decimal form. Also if anyone knows of such sofware that can be used for both private and commercial flying id be very gratefull.

Flight logging software
I use Safelog.

It is pretty straightforward and allows to enter not only the hours in all the relevant columns but also aircraft types; journals on flights; approach types flown, then do some simple analysis on flights (not so good/useful this bit I have found). Printing out is not great but works as a written record.
I use it on the PC but there are also PDA versions.
I use it to record more information on my flights than can fit in the paper logbook and to ensure that I have added up the hours correctly in your paper logboook (you can specify dates to coincide with logbook pages).

Don't want to be a pedant Roger, but it comes naturally: Excel is not free!
But I accept what you're saying. I also use a spreadsheet, which I seem to remember I downloading from someone else somewhere. It is set up to use hours and minutes - also has nice features like telling you totals by type, days since last flown type, totals by day/night, landings etc.

If you happen to have a Garmin GPS they have a free free download available called 'FlightBook' :

What is FlightBook? FlightBook is a PC application which allows you to transfer, manage, analyze, save, and print flight data from your GPSMAP 96, 96C, 196, 296, 396, 496 and iQue 3600a. This flight data will automatically contain total time, day and night condition times, cross-country and PIC time, departure and arrival locations (airport name and ID), number of landings, aircraft ID, distance, max speed, and max altitude for each flight. Once in FlightBook, the flight data can be updated with additional information, including number of instrument approaches, actual and simulated instrument time, remarks, etc. Totals for the flights can be specified for all flights, select flights, or flights in the last user-specified number of days. Pilot logs can be printed using the 'traditional' layout or customized to fit the pilot's needs.
